Folkloric Dance Program

The Folkloric Dance Program began in 2024 as a pilot project at our Community Center, with the goal of promoting Mexican culture, tradition, and art among families in our community. Thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of its participants, in 2025 it became officially established as the Sewa'aka Folkloric Ballet, a name that means “Dance of the Sea” in Yaqui, a native language of our region.

The group is led by a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, who shares her passion, discipline, and love for traditional Mexican dance with each student.

This is a family-friendly program where children, youth, and parents all dance together. Today, the group has around 35 members who proudly celebrate their cultural roots through dance.

Currently, the Sewa'aka Ballet is raising funds to create their regional costumes, since each state and tradition in Mexico has its own unique attire. Our vision is to see this program continue to grow and one day perform beyond our community, sharing the beauty and color of Mexican folklore with audiences far and wide.

Support Sewa'aka!

Each Mexican region tells a story through its traditional attire. Help our dancers bring those stories to life by contributing to the creation of their costumes.

Every donation helps us keep culture and tradition alive for the next generation.
